Description

Juan Gil, Red Blend

Deep purple in color, the wine shows luscious aromas of ripe black and red fruit combined with exotic spices. Juan Gil Red Blend is rich and voluptuous on the palate with incredible balance, finesse and power. Lovely value from the Spanish coast, this Monastrell (Mourvede) based wine offers smooth red berry and plum flavors. With gobs of fresh, juicy fruit and soft tannins adding structure, this is a great wine for a casual meal.

CorkQueen

Juan Gil is one of my favorite Spanish wines. If you don’t like the dryness of a Spanish Tempranillo, you need to try this wine. It is jammy and smooth and a very good value!

Winemaker

45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Monastrell, 10% Syrah. This red blend is made from estate vines averaging 50 years old. Monastrell’s bold fruit is perfectly in balance with the earthy notes of Cabernet and Syrah, producing a blend that shows complexity and balance. Rich in flavor and texture with fresh acidity and finessed tannin structure. Each varietal is fermented in stainless steel and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels separately before blending. Explosive aromas of ripe currant, red berries, and smoked notes. Rich, powerful, and voluminous on the attack, silken and juicy in the mid-palate with excellent length and persistence. Fine, ripe tannins, at once supple and structurally present.
